This article will tell you about carpets. The general history of their origin and features of carpets from different countries.

The carpet is a soft and warm "friend" of the floor, luxuriously decorating it, as well as making the general atmosphere of the room cozy. Considering the carpets to be a wonderful decoration of the interior, many sometimes forget that this is also a wonderful piece of decorative art. Introducing a certain artistic idea, carpets tell us about the traditions and customs of the people who created them.

In the intricate patterns of the ancient East - you can see the luxury and splendor of the once great and powerful empire. In the floral French carpets of the 16th century - there is a soft touch of Provence morning, with the sophistication and tenderness inherent in this era, but at the same time, the pompousness of individual purple elements and the abundance of gold are striking.

East - the birthplace of carpet

The homeland of carpet weaving is the East. To this day, Persian carpets are considered the most high-quality and expensive. Muslim traditions - imposed restrictions on the ornament, prohibiting the image of living creatures, therefore, in the pattern of such carpets there are exclusively geometric or floral ornaments.

It should be noted that individual characters on Persian rugs, as a rule, have a clear interpretation and their own specific meaning. Modern Persian rugs are of excellent quality, as proof of which, for some handicrafts, a special passport is issued, which has the confirmation of the Iranian government. Such carpets are quite expensive, so only wealthy people can afford such a luxury.

The whole world "at your feet"

China is a country where relief carpets were invented and brought into fashion, in which the pile is cut according to the contours of the pattern. Chinese carpets are distinguished by a variety of patterns - from complex floral patterns to concise geometric shapes. For a modern interior, cotton carpets similar to patchwork can be a good element. Material for weaving in this country are: wool, cotton and traditional silk for China.

Indian craftsmen make carpets with a pile, somewhat thicker, relative to Persian carpets, because the thread itself is a little thicker. The appearance of the products of Indian weavers is very similar to Persian decorative and applied arts. Modern models of carpet weaving products from India have become distinguished by a special geometric ornament. The pastel colors of such carpets - perfectly fit into laconic interiors.

European factories produce a fairly extensive list of the most diverse carpets. Drawing on them can also be different, and sometimes quite unexpected. On the Greek carpet, as a pattern, there may be national symbolism. And on the French "canvas" - lush bouquets and bows, while on the Belgian - this is a copy of the famous painting.

The variety of different "clothes for the floor", both in design and in size, is the pride of modern specialized stores. Only the older generation remembers how difficult it was to acquire this detail of the interior, only some 25 years ago.

When buying a rug, remember that the color scheme should strictly harmonize with furniture, curtains, as well as wallpaper. Only then will your soft “friend” of the floor fit organically into the overall decor and design.
