Immortelle - general description

Flavonoid, flavonoglycoside, kempferol, apigenin, coumarin, tannin, essential oil, organic acid, carotenoid, polysaccharide - this is not a complete list of what is included in this amazing plant. It has a straight stem of a simple shape, its height is about thirty to forty centimeters. The plant has a silver color due to its felting. Spherical flower baskets are formed on the tops of the stems.

Immortelle - species and places of growth

First of all, it is worth noting that the plant is notable for its unpretentiousness. The places of growth of this plant is the entire European and Central Asian part of the continent. As a rule, the plant prefers dry sandy, in rare cases stony soils, upper river terraces, river sands, young pine, oak and other plantings, fields and dry pastures.

There are also several species of the immortelle genus. The most common is gelichrysum monstrosum. You can recognize it by its high stalk and a large number of round double flowers.

Another type of immortelle is homfrena globosa, which reacts very positively to a long warm summer. The plant consists of a branched bush, on which are raspberry, pink or orange flowers.

The next known immortelle species is the Sinuata Statue, which is distinguished by its extraordinary beauty due to its very bright color.

Immortelle - healing properties

Immortelle is a medicinal plant. It has a choleretic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, wound healing and antibacterial effect. After taking preparations from the Helichrysum, the viscosity and composition of bile improves, the content of cholates increases, and the level of cholesterol and bilirubin in the blood decreases. Therefore, it is also used to treat liver diseases, as well as cholecystitis, cholangitis, hepatitis, hepatocholecystitis. He also effectively fights colds, gastritis, colitis, constipation.

Immortelle - dosage forms

For treatment, as a rule, decoctions of immortelle flowers are prepared, and an immortelle extract, which stops vomiting, has an antispasmodic effect. The drug Flamin, which treats chronic cholecystitis and hepatocholecystitis, is also made from immortelle.

Immortelle - recipes

Helichrysum medicine can be prepared independently. For example, a choleretic agent from an immortelle is prepared in this way: several tablespoons of flowers doused with boiling water should be held in a water bath for thirty minutes, cooled, filtered and consumed warm two or three times a day fifteen minutes before eating.

Such a decoction is used to treat hypertension: 25 grams of the flowers of the plant are mixed with 25 grams of a three-leaf shift leaf, poured with two liters of water and put on fire until the liquid is halved. Take several times a day, 50 ml.

Immortelle - contraindications

It is very important to remember that the immortelle, like every medicine, has its contraindications. You need to be careful when using it, since the immortelle accumulates in the body and this can cause stagnation of the liver. It also should not be used by people with high acidity of the stomach.
